KIKK United on Sunday reached the first round proper of the Women's FA Cup for the first time in the club's history (and just two years on from their first appearance in the competition!). Their win in the third qualifying round came in phenomenally dramatic fashion. KIKK had delighted the Mile End Park Stadium crowd by refusing to be over-awed by their South-East Combination opponents but despite having had the better of both possession and chances, when their goalkeeper lost a long-range shot from Luton's talented no 11 in the second-half sun, KIKK needed two goals just to force extra time.

As the clock ticked down into the final few minutes, KIKK still trailed 2-0 and as chances went flying by, including a Simone header stopped by the cross-bar, there must have been a few in the stadium who felt the FA Cup voyage was about to founder. The players though had not lost belief and continued in impressive fashion to try to pass and move their way out from the back. There were just five minutes left in normal time when they got their reward as substitute Naomi found the bottom left hand corner. WIth 89 minutes gone, the team were still driving forward and won a corner on the right. When the ball was half-cleared to her, centre-half Morag produced a moment of nerveless class to save the tie. Extra time could not separate the teams so a shoot-out was required. Textbook penalties from Kierra and Connie and a Luton miss and two fine saves from Coxy meant that Alma, after a marvellous performance on the left side of the midfield, had the chance to take KIKK into the first round and she delivered in fine style.
