AFC Wimbledon Ladies won a thrilling F A Women's Cup tie to earn a 1st Round trip to Norwich, but the visitors will be kicking themselves for not securing victory after they dominated the early stages. Haringey dominated the early exchanges with King shooting inches wide and Ferreira bravely denied by Amy Gates, then King lobbed Gates but just wide of the far post and soon King was clean through but shot wide. Ferreira shot wide before the visitors should have been awarded a penalty when Beverley was brought down by Gates, then King shot wide before Haringey got the goal they richly deserved in the 24th minute, Beverley playing Sheena through to score with a composed low shot. After this the Dons began to get into the game, but almost went further behind when King headed down for Ferreira to shoot over from close range. In first half injury time Lisa Couchman's through ball found Laura Topliss for a low shot into the bottom left hand corner for an undeserved equaliser. [ --- wimbledonheritage.co.uk] |
